Nagasaki - Spring Break Day 1

We hadn't even left the airport
and Sheena had already purchased
some Hello Kitty strap.
(In case you didn't know she's obsessed.)

I look thrilled to be awake and moving
after 3 hours of sleep so early in the morning...

On the plane waiting to take off.

I've never had so much leg room on a plane...
well since maybe when I was in elementary school...

Did I mention it's cherry blossom season in Kyushuu!

The memorial to the hypocenter
of where the atomic bomb went off in Nagasaki.
It was my first Bombing Museum...
the most touching moment was a little girls lunch box
with the rice still in it burned black by the radiation.

That dog loves that old man.
So cute!

Statue at the Peace Park.

The Fountain

Sheena pretending to be a tree
in front of Japanese oldest arch stone bridge.
It's name is Megane Hashi...
or in english Spectacles Bridge
Spectacles as in glass... you wear on your face. :P

Night view from the top of the ropeway
overlooking Nagasaki.

Me cold on top of the mountain overlooking Nagasaki...
Yes, Sheena I know... I'm a wimp.
But that's what happens when you're old...
Just wait until your birthday on the 30th!
You can join the over-half-a-century-old club!
HEHEHE!

EdIt: "over-a-quarter-century-old club" sorry Sheena :P

Mom says: Thanks for posting pictures of your sightseeing. I was wondering if you were going to get to see cherry blossoms there. Glad you did.
Love, Mom
